Winterport Open Stage was founded in 1993 by Reed and Erica Farrar after watching a local theatre performance and deciding, "hey, we can do that!" Although the Farrars have long since left the group, that same "can do" attitude continues to this day. After over 20 years this plucky little theatre continues to grow and has expanded to include many genres including: comedy, improvisation, children's theatre, and musical productions.
Winterport Open Stage aims to produce at least two shows a year. Shows generally take place in the fall and spring. At the helm of this company is a board of directors who are not only thinkers but are also "do-ers." The board of directors works together to plan productions, and they work on stage and off to ensure the success of each production.
